IIMAK Announces Price Increase on Thermal Transfer Ribbons
January 10, 2011
Dear Valued IIMAK Customer,
The global thermal transfer ribbon (TTR) industry continues to face significant challenges as raw material costs escalate and availability of thin film PET tightens. PET manufacturers continue to divert production capacity toward thicker film for new, higher margin applications (ie. flat screen televisions). This reduced level of production for thin film PET is being met with a steady increase in demand. The goal of the PET manufacturers is to improve profitability of thin film PET before they make significant investments to respond to demand. Hence, there have been multiple price increases on thin film throughout 2010 which are expected to continue. The significance of PET to the cost structure of TTR products, coupled with increasing costs of waxes, resins, and solvents have created an industry wide problem.
As a result, IIMAK will implement a price increase of 5% on black wax products and 10% on black wax/resin, resin, and all color products, effective January 10, 2011. New price lists will be available in January reflecting the adjusted prices.
We are confident in our raw material vendors and in our ability to supply products to meet your needs. IIMAK remains committed to keeping you competitive with a comprehensive portfolio of products and industry leading services. We will continue to invest in the industry with new product development, enhanced services, and continuous improvements in manufacturing to support your business growth.
