ENTRY LEVEL MACHINE OPERATOR

Our highly engineered core products include a full line of thermal transfer ribbons, inkjet inks, and stamp inks used widely in manufacturing, distribution, food packaging, textiles, electronics, medical, healthcare and office applications. IIMAK headquarters is located in Amherst, New York and we currently have opportunities to join IIMAK as an Entry Level Machine Operator.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • The goal of this position is to create an opportunity to demonstrate manufacturing aptitude and positive behavioral attributes in a production capacity, with the intention of developing skills for potential career growth into higher level manufacturing jobs within the organization.
  • Continuous safe and efficient operation of one designated machine model and/or specific product family, to include set-up, operation, change over, troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  • Perform daily audits and accountable for quality.
  • Maintain accurate and legible documentation.
  • Daily equipment/tool inspection and accountability.
  • Monitor equipment status and communicate issues to Lead and Supervisor in timely manner.
  • Communicate equipment, product quality and job status to oncoming shift.
  • Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Lead.

 

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

(Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job)

 

  • Minimum 1 year work experience in manufacturing, retail or hospitality preferred.
  • Previous operation of equipment in a production environment a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to learn to safely and efficiently operate mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a cooperative, positive and timely manner.
  • Good math and reading skills, ability to interpret specifications and standard operating procedures.
  • Possess positive interpersonal skills to perform effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, label printing and machine control panel operation.

(IIMAK) is an industry expert and one of the largest North American manufacturers of thermal transfer ribbons, which are used in a wide range of high growth markets including bar coding, thermal fax, color computer graphics, security authentication and digital glass decoration.  IIMAK’s global operations have over 1,000 employees worldwide, and are headquartered in Amherst, New York.  IIMAK headquarters is located in Amherst, New York and we currently have opportunities to join IIMAK as a Converting Operator.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

  • This position is an opportunity to demonstrate manufacturing aptitude and positive behavioral attributes in a production capacity, with the intention of developing skills for potential career growth into higher level manufacturing jobs within the organization.
  • Continuous safe and efficient operation of one designated slitting machine model and/or specific product family, to include set-up, operation, change over, troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  • Continuous safe and efficient packing, shrink wrapping and spooling responsibilities.
  • Perform daily audits and accountable for quality.
  • Maintain accurate and legible documentation.
  • Daily equipment/tool inspection and accountability.
  • Monitor equipment status and communicate issues to Lead and Supervisor in timely manner.
  • Communicate equipment, product quality and job status to oncoming shift.
  • Other converting tasks as directed, such as Auto Relief Operator for breaks and lunch.

 

Qualified Candidate Should Possess:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
  • Previous operation of slitting and/or spooling equipment a plus.
  • Ability to learn to safely and efficiently operate mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to complete all tasks in a cooperative, positive and timely manner.
  • Willingness and flexibility to achieve department goals and overall group performance.
  • Good math and reading skills, ability to interpret specifications and standard operating procedures.
  • Possess positive interpersonal skills to perform effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to alter work schedule as needed for training and skill development.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, label printing and machine control panel operation.
  • This position will be assigned to tasks within the Converting Departments according to the day’s business needs, to fill in for call-offs, vacation slots or duties deemed necessary by the shift supervisor.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Operation of equipment in a safe manner at all times; safety procedures are followed.
  • Capable of learning and diagnosing fundamental process issues.
  • Ability to become knowledgeable, proficient and innovative in all aspects of a manufacturing process.
  • Complete all tasks in a cooperative, positive and timely manner with minimal supervision. 
  • Display a willingness and flexibility in achieving department goals and contributions to overall group performance.
  • Prompt, dependable and often displays extra effort to maximize machine uptime.
  • Develop a working knowledge and troubleshooting skill set for all equipment.
  • Responsible for the operation of required computer programs.
  • Insure that the product being produced consistently meets quality expectations.

Qualified Candidate Should Possess:

  • Processing Associate – Minimum of one year applicable machine operation experience required with demonstrated mechanical aptitude through machine changeover, setup and troubleshooting
  • MSC Operator – Minimum two years of coating and web conveyance experience required
  • Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures, specifications and follow instructions
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Solid PC skills
  • Forklift certification a plus
  • Processing Associate offers an entry level opportunity to be trained and develop in the coating process and if successful, may lead to promotional opportunities as a Utility Operator or MSC Operator.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Operate all material distribution equipment in the warehouse
  • Daily safety inspection of material handling equipment and battery charging/changing station
  • Issue and return materials to production and inventory locations
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts and location audits
  • Utilize hoist and crane system
  • Utilize personal computers, printers and wireless barcode scanning equipment
  • Use software including Microsoft Dynamics AX, IMS, Slitting Dispatch, Slit Specification database, Lot Tracker, leaderstrip & bintag label printing software, Windows, and Excel
  • Perform direct labor tasks in Production including jumbo packing, shrink-wrapping, packing and core cutting
  • Routinely perform all essential Point duties in slitting
  • Complete quality, safety and housekeeping audits as directed

 

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

  • 6 months of general warehouse experience required
  • Forklift and electric pallet-jack experience preferred
  • Inventory control experience a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills to interface with all production departments to ensure material requirements are correct and on time to avoid machine downtime.
  • Good PC skills, Microsoft Dynamics AX experience a plus.
  • Basic Math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication) required.
  • Ability to work both independently and in team environment.
