Position Summary: The selected candidate will implement equipment, tooling and procedures for manufacturing processes to meet business needs and achieve a competitive manufacturing environment heavily loaded towards our thin film coating operations.  Provide technical support to solve complex technical process problems and have responsibility for smaller capital projects and undertake action on manufacturing improvement programs.  Support large capital projects and activities on commercialization programs for new products.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Designs & implements process tooling and equipment
  • Solve problems involving web conveyance, coating quality, air flows and drying                         
  • Support capital projects for capacity and process improvements                                                      
  • Stays informed on new coating tech and leads implementation of equipment to remain competitive
  • Participate and leads cross functional teams related to manufacturing programs
  • Undertake and supports and or leads projects to improve quality, cost and safety
  • Takes engineering lead on Coating Capacity Team                                   
  • Provide support to coating operations in solving technical problems
  • Instruct others, and prepare SOP’s to define steps/controls for the manufacturing process                   
  • Develop layouts to optimize process flow and material handling
  • Supports actions and provides directional cost models on commercialization teams for new products              .

       

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Chemical/mechanical or related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of related experience in coating and web conveyance.  Thin film experience preferable
  • Knowledge of related coating equipment/process/system technologies
  • Knowledge of engineering principles/theories/formulas/standards/practices
  • Analytical & problem solving techniques, planning & implementation of process technical projects
  • Justification/management of capital investments
  • Commercialization activities for new products
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solid drawing skills with up to date  CAD systems
  • Solid PC skills
  • Good judgment and decision making.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • The goal of this position is to create an opportunity to demonstrate manufacturing aptitude and positive behavioral attributes in a production capacity, with the intention of developing skills for potential career growth into higher level manufacturing jobs within the organization.
  • Continuous safe and efficient operation of one designated machine model and/or specific product family, to include set-up, operation, change over, troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  • Perform daily audits and accountable for quality.
  • Maintain accurate and legible documentation.
  • Daily equipment/tool inspection and accountability.
  • Monitor equipment status and communicate issues to Lead and Supervisor in timely manner.
  • Communicate equipment, product quality and job status to oncoming shift.
  • Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Lead.

 

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Minimum 1 year work experience in manufacturing, retail or hospitality preferred.
  • Previous operation of equipment in a production environment a plus, but not required.

  • Good math and reading skills, ability to interpret specifications and standard operating procedures.

Candidates must be able to work any of our 24 x 7 shift schedules – Current openings will most likely be on overnight shifts: B-Shift (7pm-7am Sun, Mon, Tues and every other Saturday); D-Shift (7pm-7am Wed, Thu, Fri and every other Saturday).

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare all inks and backings, to include TTR and Fluid Inks.
  • Responsible for testing, inventory control, equipment monitoring, cleaning and preparation of reports.
  • Perform quality control testing of in-process and finished ink and backings.
  • Support Engineering and Manufacturing on ink initiatives,
  • Help establish run rates and scrap loss for new fluid ink processes
  • Build production inks to meet customer demands
  • Monitor ink room equipment during operation and clean equipment when job is complete.
  • Insure proper storage, recording and stock rotation of both raw materials and finished inks.
  • Communicate with coating department on quality of materials which are being produced.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a team environment.

  • Previous experience in a production environment involving mixing and dispersing operations preferred.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Convert IIMAK Customer specific Private Label designs & formats and product shipping labels from existing Label design software records into new records in NiceLabel (AX interface) label management system.
  • Work closely, under the direction of a Document control leader, following a prescribed set of instructions to: Identify existing label formats / templates and design corresponding new labels in NiceLabel for each.
  • Establish Links for new Label Configuration’s elements to IIMAK data sources. Process multiple records against a task backlog.
  • Additional tasks may be expanded as the progress of the Project Implementation expands.

 

Qualified Candidate Should Possess:

  • Experience with PrintPro, NiceLabel or other conventional PC based Label design software packages is desirable but not essential for this opportunity.
  • Possess a technical background (education) or work experience commensurate with developing graphics or logos.
  • Fluency with Microsoft suite software packages such as Word or Excel.
  • Familiarity with working in a Local Area Network and ability to navigate among various file directory locations with precision, as in a Microsoft environment.
  • Solid computer skills, with PC software applications and exposure to Product definition data, experience with Graphics design software a plus.
  • Have an aptitude to quickly absorb specific instructions; and then work independently with accuracy in a high detail assignment to complete a task backlog.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

GENERAL SUMMARY:                                                                          

The Production Supervisor will provide technical support and direct supervision to manufacturing operations to meet business needs and achieve a competitive manufacturing environment. Main responsibilities will be providing daily technical support to operations, employee management, and developing, maintaining, and improving processes for new and existing manufacturing procedures, including process control initiatives.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Primary responsibility is for the Safety, Quality, and Productivity of the Processing and Converting departments.
  • Provide daily technical support to the assigned manufacturing area.
  • Responsible for the proper training of employees for maximum efficiency and outstanding quality.
  • Maintains and enforces Company and Safety Policies.
  • Trains, develops, and evaluates employees.
  • Meet budgeted expense targets and performance goals.
  • Coordination of staffing for assigned departments.
  • Continuously interacts with support departments on Production related issues.
  • Sets high standards for plant housekeeping and enforces compliance.
  • Verifies employee timesheets for accuracy.
  • Provide support/coverage to other Production Supervision including off-shift coverage as needed.

 

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

  • BS Engineering or related technical discipline, coupled with 2+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing role.
  • Prefer 2+ years of experience in supervision or relevant leadership role.

  • Work schedule flexibility to optimize cross shift communication and interaction with all peers and direct reports.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  • Above average communication skills. Keeping Management well informed as events occur.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and mentoring skills.
  • Must exhibit initiative, decisiveness, and self-motivation with the ability to assume responsibility.

Title: Solvent Recovery Room Operator

(IIMAK) is an industry expert and one of the largest North American manufacturers of thermal transfer ribbons, which are used in a wide range of high growth markets including bar coding, thermal fax, color computer graphics, security authentication and digital glass decoration. IIMAK’s global operations have over 1,000 employees worldwide, and are headquartered in Amherst, New York. We currently have an opportunity to join IIMAK’s Processing group as a Solvent Recovery Operator working in a climate controlled industrial environment in our Amherst, NY facility.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Solvent Recovery Room Operator monitors and troubleshoots all equipment associated with solvent recovery/parts cleaning process.
  • Cleans and evaluates all parts and drums from the dirty stage to the clean stage.
  • Records all solvent generated from each stage.
  • Plans parts/drum-washing schedule accordingly.
  • Maintains the parts/drum staging area’s while in fixed communication with support groups (Inkmaking, MSC, Coating, Slitting and Engineering).
  • Performs and understands, with proficiency, the internal and external procedures of the operations.
  • Demonstrates excellent housekeeping skills and responsibility for upkeep of the P2 storage rooms.
  • Executes plan for the handling, labeling and care for plant-wide flow of Hazardous Waste.
  • Manufacture E08 backing in plant#2 for all MSC’s and plant#1 coating presses on a daily basis.
  • Assist with coating changeovers and troubleshooting as necessary.

 

QUALIFIED CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS:

  • Previous experience with Coating or Inkmaking and/or solvent handling activities preferred.
  • 2 years manufacturing with batch processing experience a plus.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Process Safety Management (PSM) certification required.
  • Forklift experience/ certification a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills and compliance auditing.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of solvent/dry chemicals and chemical labeling.
  • Flexibility to change assignments as business needs dictate.

  • Support inventory control by conducting daily inventory cycle counts and row audits
  • Order picking
  • Manifest customer’s orders with shipping software and sorting boxes off the conveyor system
  • Stock and organize warehouse shelves following safety procedures
  • Perform routine transactions with shipping software
  • Operate warehouse machinery such as - pallet jacks, lifts, banding equipment, stretch-wrapper
  • Heavy equipment operation (forklift, reach-truck, walkie-rider)
  • Willingness to accept other warehouse duties as assigned
