Labeling of Nutraceuticals & Pharmaceuticals is Critical to Ensure Consumer Safety
Pharmaceuticals are designed to treat illness or disease, while nutraceuticals (including vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, and dietary substances) are intended to provide nutrients. Despite their different purposes, the labeling of both nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals is governed by the US Food and Drug Administration.
Variable information labeling and marking for both product categories often include a UPC barcode, expiration date, and lot code. Variable information such as lot code and expiration date must be clearly printed on each package and highly resistant to smudge, scratch, abrasion, and chemical exposure to ensure that the information is legible over time.
